Gugu Mbatha-Raw Is Set To Play the First Black Miss World in Dramedy 'Misbehaviour'

The South African-British actress will star alongside Keira Knightley to tell the true story of the 1970 Miss World competition.

Misbehaviour is the upcoming dramedy taking the true story of the 1970 Miss World competition to the big screen, Deadline reports.

Starring South African-British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw alongside Keira Knightley and Jessie Buckley, the film will show the competition at its height with 100 million viewers, depicting the newly formed Women's Liberation Movement storming the stage and disrupting the live broadcast in protest of beauty competitions demeaning women.

The biggest upset happened once the competition resumed—Jennifer Hosten, representing Grenada, won the crown over favorite Miss Sweden—making her the first black woman to snag the Miss World title.

Misbehaviour is due to be produced by The Crown's Left Bank Pictures with BAFTA winner Philippa Lowthorpe as its director.

Take a look at Hosten's crowning below.
