Signore Fusion unveils Japanese-inspired collection, "Kabuki"

Signore Fusion, the diffusion brand of Vanskere, unveils the Kabuki collection.

Created by the designers Evans Akere and Emmanuel Isei, the Kabuki collection attempts to merge Nigerian and Japanese cultures.

According to the designers, "Kabuki is a Japanese word which means 'out of the ordinary which can be identified as Avant-garde."

During the process of design and research, the designers discovered that modern day Tokyo was called Edo, between the period of 1603-1868. This period was characterised by economic growth, strict social order, stable population and popular enjoyment of arts and culture. This period can be seen as the best period in history of Japanese arts and culture.

Coincidentally, Edo is also a state in Nigeria, West Africa. This gave way for a fusion of Japanese and African culture.

As usual, the menswear collection played around with bold colours, geometric prints, fashion forward styles, modern silhouettes and rich aesthetics for the collection. This time, however, they merged traditional with modern, giving us kimono-inspired caftans. What do you think?
