Nigeria, Qatar to sign labour agreement soon
Nigeria will soon sign a bilateral agreement with Qatar to facilitate direct recruitment of skilled workers and professionals from Nigeria, according to Nigerian Ambassador to Qatar, Dr Harunaa Bawa-Abdullahi Wase.
Speaking to members of Nigerian Community in Qatar at a Town Hall meeting on Friday, Ambassador Wase said all plans have been concluded to sign the agreement to give Qatar's public and private sector organisations opportunity to hire Nigerian youth directly from Nigeria.
He said the deal will help Qatar’s firm employ competent hands while at the same time protect the rights of the employees, adding that the pact is part of nine bilateral agreements between Qatar and Nigeria, among which five have already been signed.
The envoy said Qatar currently hosts 10,763 Nigerians working in different sectors, including health, education, construction and consultancy media, assuring the community members of his commitment to promote their interests and strengthen the budding relations between Nigeria and Qatar.
