Gen-Z yellow is the surprise colour of the season
First it was millennial pink and now we have Gen-Z yellow. Generational colours are seeping into every facet of modern day life and now this yellow has become the surprise hit colour of the season with many of our favourites styling in the hue.
Just a while ago millennial pink was the cool, trendy colour of the season and Gen-Z yellow is her carefree, bold, outgoing younger sister who radiates joy and positivity. This colour, though a little more effortless, still gets you noticed. The trend skews bright and canary-coloured but you can experiment with different variations (mustard, pastel, neon,) and tailor the shade to suit your personality, mood or even skin colour.
Every designer and store seems to have a pop of yellow, and we're finding ourselves drawn to the bright shade more than ever before. Not only does the bright colour inspire happiness and joy, especially when things can be so bleak, it also looks great on pretty much every skin tone.
Yellow may not seem like it is for the faint-hearted but there are a few style rules that mean anyone can wear it and feel great. Take a look at the ways to wear Gen-Z yellow and hop on this summer trend.
Ways to Wear It
1. Start with accessories
If you're wary of bright hues, start small.
2. Ease into it with prints
Prints and accents are a great way to break up colour, and although these outfits are still vibrant, the brightness of the yellow is much more subdued.
3. Wear a statement yellow piece
Another way to wear the trend is to pick one yellow item, whether it's a skirt, top, dress, or shorts, and then balance it out with neutral colors. This means that yellow can be the focus of your outfit without being too overpowering.
