Funke Akindele's 'Buka on Battle Street' breaks Nollywood records by grossing N135 million in a day

Funke Akindele, ace actress and People's Democratic Party Deputy Governorship candidate, is overjoyed after her recently released film, 'Buka on Street,' set a new Nollywood record for grossing over N135 million in one day.

For the second week in a row, the project remains the top Nollywood film project.

The jubilant actress announced the successful feat via her social media pages on Tuesday, 27th December 2022 as she appreciated her fans for their unwavering support and for storming the different cinema houses to watch the movie titled 'Battle on Buka street'.

"Buka on Battle Street reaches N135 million, the highest single day for a Nollywood film in 2022 - 26 million on December 25, 2022"

'Battle on Buka Street' premiered on Sunday, December 11, 2022, and the plot revolves around a 'battle' between two women who compete in a food challenge to win the prestigious 'King of Buka Street' title bestowed upon the region's best local food seller.

Funke Akindele produced the film, which stars Nollywood stars such as Femi Jacobs, Mercy Johnson, Kelvin Ikeduba, Bimbo Ademoye, Tina Mba, Sola Sobowale, Nkem Owoh, Tobi Makinde, and Funke Akindele.
