Basic Nail Care Tips For Everyone
How often do you go for checkups at the hospital to ensure your body is functioning right? How often do you ensure that you eat the right things to keep your body healthy? How often do you apply the right products to ensure that your skin is healthy? Good. Now, how often do you ensure that your nails are in tip-top shape?
Sometimes, we tend to overlook how important nail care is. Apart from the medical implications of going about with nails that are not properly cared for, there are also social implications. Imagine not being able to show off your nails because of how they look.
Nail care doesn’t apply to only those who keep natural nails. It also applies to those rocking artificial ones.
The following tips will help your dream of wearing beautiful nails.
Clean the dirt from the nails. It is advisable to use an object or tool that will not leave your nails looking dirtier. An orange stick will be preferable.
Wash your nails. This also applies to both natural and artificial. Washing your nails ensures that you get every dirt residue out.
As much as possible, avoid biting your nails.
Remove old and matted nail polish. Try going for a nail polish remover that is not harsh. Also, give yourself a break from coating your nails. Some of these nail polishes may have strong chemicals that may affect after a prolonged use
Try moisturising your nails from time to time.
Refrain from picking or piling your nail cuticle. It may have an adverse effect on your nails
Take a break from acrylic or artificial nails
You need the following when dealing with nails. They include nail filer, nail cutter, nail buffer, cuticle pusher, nail brush and cuticle oil.
Nail filer
This tool is very efficient when trying to shape your nails. It gives that smooth finish. It is advisable to file your nails when they are dry because wet nails split or tear off.
Nail cutter
Everyone needs a handy nail cutter to avoid using their teeth to bite off their nails. It is not only unhygienic, but it leaves your nails looking like they were placed under a saw. Not a good look. The nail cutter ensures that your nails are trimmed in a fitting and appealing manner. It is a basic tool that everyone should have.
Cuticle pusher
Your cuticles are just as important as the rest of your nails as they are a form of protective barrier. If the cuticle is left unkempt, it begins to appear dry and flaky. Though many see it as an opportunity to cut the cuticle, it has been advised not to, as it gives room for a number of nail infections. So, using a cuticle pusher, gently, push it back a little. It is best done when the skin around is soft, that is, after a shower or after soaking your hands for some minutes.
Cuticle oil
Cuticle oil is the moisturiser for your cuticles. Cuticle oil has been proven to better the health and quality of your nails and even aid in nail growth. All that is needed are a few drops to get the job done.
Nail brush
The nail brush is used to gently remove dirt from under your nails. All that is needed is to add soap to the brush and then wash under your nails
Nail buffer
The main aim of a buffer is to polish your nail giving them that natural glossy look by removing that dullness from your nails. The difference between a nail file and a nail buffer is that a file is used to give the top side of the nail that seamless finish, while the buffer is for the flat surface.
