AFCON Qualifiers: Peseiro thumbs up Uyo

Jose Peseiro, the coach of the Super Eagles, has praised the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, as a top-notch venue with cutting-edge amenities.

Peseiro who was in Uyo as guest of the NPFL Matchday 35 fixture betwee Akwa United and Plateau United on Saturday, was taken round the stadium by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports and Chairman of Akwa United, Etubom Paul Bassey

The main bowl's natural grass, the training fields and locker rooms, the referees' rooms and conference room, the stadium's atmosphere, and many other things were all inspected by the Portuguese and his assistant Acacio Santos.

Peseiro expressed his admiration for the world-class facilities in the 30,000-seat arena after the tour, calling them state-of-the-art.

“This is a good stadium, feels like in Europe, modern facilities and world class.

“I came here to watch a match and inspect the stadium. It is nice and in very good condition.”

Peseiro expressed his happiness at discovering a stadium that was equally as large and stunning as the Uyo stadium in addition to the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

When asked if he would suggest a stadium for the Super Eagles' Afcon Qualifiers, Peseiro responded that he would give his opinion to his employers, the NFF, after visiting all of the nation's stadiums.
