I lost weight to boost my self-confidence – Actress, Georgina Ibeh

Actress, Georgina Ibeh, says she lost weight to boost confidence in herself. In an interview, she said, “One should not work on one’s body to please any man. It should be what one wants for oneself. At the end of the day, it is one that matters. I worked on myself because I wanted to boost my confidence.

“Losing weight was a personal decision I took because of health reasons. It was not because I wanted to be getting movie roles. When I was bigger (in size), I had movie roles. But because I’m now slimmer, I can fit into more roles. It was for my own gain.”

Ibeh also maintained that she does not get movies roles based on the clique she belongs to. She said, “There are cliques in every industry. I cannot speak for everyone but for myself. People (filmmakers) call me because I am a good actor, and because I am understanding and tolerant. Yes, there are cliques in the industry, but I have never got roles based on that. I have got roles based on my talent and passion for my craft.”

Speaking on the issue of filmmakers being harassed by louts at movie locations, she said, “I have experienced it a lot of times. Some people feel entitled. When a filmmaker goes to shoot a movie, those people (louts) would want collect money from them. Those louts try to ‘suck out’ money from producers just to make the process of movie production difficult.

“I don’t know if there is a solution to it though because we (filmmakers) keep giving them money. They (louts) would say we should settle the youths, which we do.”

The actress also stated that she is working on a project titled, Perfect Break-up. According to her, it is directed by Lancelot Imasuen; while her and fellow actor, Nosa Rex, play the lead roles.
