Designers to get N1m for dressing like Fela

After a month-long call for entries, judges of the Dress Like Fela fashion competition are on the search for the next big fashion designer.

The competition, which is part of activities for the forthcoming Felabration 2022, will have renowned designers, Frank Osodi and Lanre Da-Silva, as judges.

Scheduled to hold as a physical event on October 15, 2022, the competition was conceptualised to create more cultural awareness and an opportunity to showcase Fela-inspired outfits.

According to the organisers, the competition has two segments, which are for the audience and up-and-coming designers. The audience is expected to pick the winner of the fashion show, who will go home with N1m, mentorship by a leading fashion designer and other opportunities.

Ten members of the audience who dress like Fela will also stand a chance of winning prizes.

Other events lined up for the forthcoming Felabration include the tenth edition of the secondary schools debate; the symposium known as the Fela Debates, which is in its 14th year; and seven days of music concerts featuring Nigerian and international artistes; and the Felabration Ladies Webinar.
