How Femi Ogunrombi, the stand-in for 'Papa Ajasco,' died

Femi Ogunrombi, a veteran Nollywood actor who played the eponymous role in the hit sitcom 'Papa Ajasco,' has died.

On Sunday, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, a theatrical practitioner, journalist, and educator, revealed the veteran's death on his Twitter page.

"I have just been reliably told that Mr Femi Ogunrombi, ethnomusicologist, former music instructor with @NATIONALTROUPE, and one-time stand-in for the 'Papa Ajasco' character on the popular @waleadenugaprod comedy series 'Papa Ajasco,' has died," he tweeted.

While spreading the news on social media, Mr Mayowa Adenekan, a digital journalist and talent manager, stated that the late actor was a stand-in actor after the first Papa Ajasco persona backed out.

"Veteran actor Femi Ogunrombi, often known as Papa Ajasco, has died.

"I see a lot of individuals exploiting photographs of Mr Abiodun Ayoyinka, the original Papa Ajasco. But it was Mr Femi Ogunrombi, who took over the character when Mr. Ayoyinka left the programme, who died. "May his soul rest in peace," he wrote.

Ogunrombi studied Music and Drama at Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU. He is a multi-instrumentalist, music instructor, composer, actor, producer, and music/film director.

He formed and directed The Ayoro Voices, a choral ensemble. Between 1980 and 1983, this ensemble was the cultural image of the OAU.

Ogunrombi joined the National Troupe of Nigeria as a Music Instructor in 1994. He climbed to the post of Director of Music by 1998.

He founded and led the National Choir before leaving the government in 1998 to start his own music company.

Ogunrombi joined the renowned TV comedy show as 'Papa Ajasco' in 2006.

Wale Adenuga Productions developed Papa Ajasco and Company.

Ogunrombi, at the same time, became the Coordinator of Studies for Adenuga’s PEFTI Film Institute.
