Tinubu On Old Naira Deadline: Our wives selling roasted corn, carrots most affected
THE All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, stated on Sunday that "our wives" selling garden eggs, carrots, and roasted corn were the worst hit by the need to switch to new Naira notes.
Tinubu stated this at a town hall meeting with political leaders, social groups, and professionals from various sectors in Benin City, Edo State.
He presented his programs and appealed for votes for his party in all elections commencing February 25.
Tinubu praised President Muhammadu Buhari for agreeing to extend the deadline for the transition to the new naira notes at the palace of the Oba of Benin, where His Majesty, Oba Ewuare II was joined by traditional rulers from Edo Central and Edo North senatorial districts.
He claimed that requests for an extension contributed to him arriving late for the meeting.
He also stated that if elected, he will battle for recovery of the artifacts taken from the city and that one of his programs, if elected, will be to investigate Edo state's abundant natural resources, notably gas, to be shipped to Europe.
