Ronaldo hits two as Portugal thrash Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-0

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Roberto Martinez's tenacious Portugal hammered Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-0 in Euro 2024 qualification on Monday.

Portugal, who qualified for the tournament in Germany next summer with a win over Slovakia on Friday, maintained their excellent form under the Spanish coach, winning their eighth game in a row.

Ronaldo scored his 126th and 127th goals for Portugal, extending his record as the all-time leading men's international striker.

Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United scored the third goal, which was followed by Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix of Barcelona, all before halftime.

Bosnia, led by experienced striker Edin Dzeko, is fifth in the group and can no longer advance after Slovakia defeated Luxembourg 1-0.

Bosnia has two games left and is seven points behind second-placed Slovakia in Group J, with Portugal running away with the title.

Martinez’s side have scored 32 goals and only conceded twice, racking up all 24 points possible so far.

Al-Nassr striker Ronaldo, 38, started the goal from the penalty spot and added a second with a nice finish, but was replaced by Martinez after 65 minutes, still chasing a hat-trick.

A pitch intruder also accosted the former Real Madrid forward just before halftime, but stewards quickly intervened.

As the hosts' defense broke horrifically, Fernandes and Cancelo finished with superb accuracy and power, while Felix stroked in the fifth.

Bosnia tightened up in the second half, but it was already too late.
