Tiwa Savage Ventures into Acting with Movie, ‘Water and Garri’
Tiwa Savage has advanced in her career by becoming a co-director and lead actor in a new film.
The 43-year-old entertainer declared that her first film, titled “Water and Garri,” would be her acting debut.
She posted a photo of herself on the set and with the directors and captioned it, “This is about to be an ICONIC moment. My first calling and co-directing debut with the GOAT @meji Alabi.”
The song “Water and Garri” from Tiwa’s 2021 EP of the same name is the single from the film.
In the film, which is set in the Ghanaian city of Cape Coast, Tiwa portrays a fashion designer with a promising career in the United States who returns to her native continent of Africa to deal with the guilt she left behind.
Jemima Osunde, Andrew Bunting, and Mike Afolarin were on the movie set with her.
The film’s principal photography has apparently been completed by African production companies Unbound Studios and JM Productions.
The movie was written by Comfort Emmanuel, while Meji Alabi and Tiwa co-directed it.
The film was made at Unbound Studios by Jimi Adesanya. African production firms include Unbound Studios and its subsidiary JM Films.
Together with Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna, Alabi and Adesanya also serve as executive producers.
Tiwa is an executive producer through her “Everything Savage company,” and she also contributed to the music of the movie by writing and performing on it.
