Lionel Messi Overtakes Cristiano Ronaldo’s Record

Lionel Messi, the Paris Saint-Germain striker, broke Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo's record on Saturday when he scored in the French Ligue 1 away match against OGC Nice.

Messi scored in the 26th minute of the game to put the Parisians ahead.

Argentina's World Cup winner now has 702 goals in Europe's top five divisions, one more than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi has done so in 105 less games than the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player.

During his time with Barcelona, the 35-year-old scored 672 goals in 778 appearances.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has now scored 30 goals for PSG in 68 appearances, including the game against Nice.
