With the alleged death of Murphy Afolabi, Nigeria's film industry is once again in grief.

The renowned Yoruba actor, 49, died in the early hours of morning in his home.

Tunde Ola-Yusuf, a veteran film director and producer, reported his death on Sunday afternoon via his Facebook page.

"May you rest in peace. "May God grant the family and close friends the strength to bear the loss," he added.

The deceased's birthday was just over a week ago, on Friday, May 5.

Murphy, who began his career with a film named 'Ifa Olokun' under Dagunro's direction, has appeared in and produced a slew of others.
