Dr Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, says measures are ongoing to restructure the N-Power system to accommodate more people and ensure timely payment of stipends to recipients.

Edu made the announcement in Abuja on Sunday through her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Rasheed Zubair.

According to the release, the Minister stated that the difficulties faced by N-Power beneficiaries in terms of delayed payment of stipends will be addressed soon.

"We will change the modalities so that people get their delayed stipends, include more people, and relaunch it with a renewed hope concept," she explained.

She also stated that the ministry intended to construct humanitarian hubs in each of the country's 774 local government areas as a long-term goal toward reducing poverty in Nigeria.

She said that the hubs would house locally grown foodstuffs that would be marketed at lower prices to Nigerians.

The announcement also stated that the ministry would deploy workers to all local government regions to get feedback, in addition to digitally tracking the palliatives.

The digital tracking of palliatives, according to the statement, is intended to determine the time, location, household, and individuals to whom they are administered.

"This is to ensure that palliatives are distributed in a transparent and effective manner; we also intend to bring on board independent monitors to ensure that relief materials reach those in need."

"Under my leadership, the ministry will address poverty by creating jobs and transferring cash to poor Nigerians."

"We will ensure collaboration with the Nutrition Department, the establishment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and the provision of business stimulus."

She told Nigerians that she will respond quickly to the humanitarian catastrophe in the country.

"Nigerians should be assured that all existing empowerment schemes within the National Investment Programme will be restructured to effectively reach more people."

Edu told Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu would make massive economic interventions to address their immediate and long-term demands.

"Mr President has a massive economic plan for Nigeria, some with short-term objectives and others with long-term objectives, and Nigerians should please trust the process."
