Ikorodu City Secures First Victory of the Season with Dominant 3-0 Win Over Bendel Insurance

Ikorodu City celebrated a triumphant start to their campaign in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), claiming their first victory of the season by defeating Bendel Insurance 3-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, on Saturday.

The breakthrough came just three minutes after the halftime break when Rivio Ayemwenre found the net, capitalizing on a well-placed cross from Waliu Ojetoye. The momentum continued to build for Ikorodu City, with Kelechi Onwe doubling the lead in the 56th minute.

As the match drew to a close, Toyeeb Ajeyigbe sealed the win with a third goal, scored 14 minutes before the final whistle.

In another match, defending champions Rangers faced a setback, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Sunshine Stars at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode. Sunshine Stars secured their third win of the season, thanks to Stephen Chukwude's decisive goal in the 43rd minute, lifting the Owena Waves to fourth place on the league table.

With the remaining eight matchday six games scheduled to take place across various centers on Sunday, the competition is heating up in the NPFL.
