Rivers United players were awarded N2 million for their hard-fought 2-1 home win over Sunshine Stars on Sunday.

Chris Green, Rivers State Sports Commissioner, lavished cash on the players following the game.

Following the victory, the former Nigeria Premier Football (NPFL) champions moved to the top of the standings.

Stephen Manyo and Ndifreke Effiong both scored goals to secure the victory.

Finidi George's side is undefeated in the NPFL this season.

The Port Harcourt club has 13 points from five games.
