The Ogun State Government has begun repair and rehabilitation work on the MKO Abiola International Stadium and the Alake Sports Centre in Ijeja, Abeokuta, ahead of the National Sports Festival, NSF, dubbed the "2024 Gateway Games."

The National Sports Festival is scheduled for January 12–26, 2025.

Speaking after viewing the two facilities on Wednesday, Wasiu Isiaka, Commissioner for Sports Development, stated that the renovations will be finished on time and tested before to the games.

The repair comprises the demolition of the pitch in the stadium's main bowl, the tartan tracks, and the roofing of the Alake Sports Centre's indoor halls.
