Jamie O’Hara Urges Arsenal to Sign Alexander Isak to Bolster Title Hopes
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has called on Arsenal to prioritize signing a striker like Alexander Isak if they want to elevate their chances of winning the Premier League title. O’Hara believes the Gunners need a prolific goal-scorer to complement their attacking lineup and make a genuine push for the league crown.
Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, O’Hara highlighted the gap in Arsenal’s attacking depth, particularly criticizing the suitability of Kai Havertz in delivering the firepower needed to secure silverware.
“Arsenal need a striker, it’s as simple as that,” O’Hara stated. “I like Kai Havertz. He’s a good player, but he will not win you the Premier League. He can chip in here and there, but you need a goalscorer that is going to get you 25 or more goals a season.”
The outspoken pundit suggested Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as the perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s side. The Swedish international has been in scintillating form this season, recording nine goal involvements in 13 Premier League appearances for Eddie Howe’s high-flying team.
“That is the difference at this level,” O’Hara added. “Arsenal should look to sign a player like Alexander Isak.”
Arsenal’s Striker Conundrum
The Gunners have been linked with Isak, whose blend of pace, technical ability, and clinical finishing has made him one of the standout forwards in the league. Arsenal, despite their solid performances, have sometimes struggled to convert chances, a weakness that has cost them points in critical matches.
While Havertz has shown glimpses of brilliance, his role within Arteta’s system remains under scrutiny. O’Hara’s comments underline the importance of having a natural striker who can consistently deliver goals at the highest level.
Opinion: Is Isak the Missing Piece?
Adding a player like Alexander Isak could indeed be transformative for Arsenal. His ability to score in various ways—whether through individual brilliance or as part of a cohesive attacking play—would provide the Gunners with an edge in high-stakes games.
However, prying Isak away from Newcastle United, a team with ambitions of their own, won’t come cheap. Arsenal would need to make a compelling financial and sporting case to secure his services.
For a club with a rich tradition of great strikers, from Thierry Henry to Robin van Persie, investing in a top-tier forward like Isak could mark the next chapter in Arsenal’s quest for Premier League glory.
