Emmanuel Petit Backs Chelsea as Dark Horses in Premier League Title Race
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has tipped Chelsea as the surprise team capable of challenging Liverpool for the Premier League title this season.
Speaking to Gambling Zone, Petit highlighted Chelsea’s strong squad and favorable schedule as key factors that could enable them to close the nine-point gap between them and leaders Liverpool.
“Are Arsenal the only team who can catch Liverpool? It’s a good question. Well, to be honest, no,” Petit said.
“I look at the schedule, and they have a very favourable run and have also played against almost every big team so far this season. There is no easy game in the Premier League, but right now I’d have to say Chelsea are dark horses as they have been excellent under Maresca.”
Petit also emphasized the depth of Chelsea’s squad, suggesting it gives them an advantage over other title contenders playing in multiple competitions.
“Everyone is forgetting that Chelsea have the strongest squad in the Premier League... They have a really strong opportunity to make up ground. It’s only December, so do not count them out yet.”
Chelsea, under manager Enzo Maresca, has shown significant improvement, losing just three matches this season. The Blues currently sit in third place and have been in impressive form, raising hopes among fans of a potential title challenge.
