Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi Make 2024 Ballon d’Or Power Rankings

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, both veteran footballers who no longer play in Europe, have been named to the 2024 Ballon d'Or power rankings.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who was not in the top ten for the 2023 Ballon d'Or, is presently ranked 19th in Goal's top 20 power rankings for April.

Ronaldo, who presently plays for Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr, is ranked higher than the incumbent Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, who is ranked 20th.

Interestingly, Jude Bellingham, who has been unstoppable since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund earlier this season, is ranked first in the Ballon d'Or power rankings.

Phil Foden of Manchester City is placed second, after his international teammate Bellingham. Kylian Mbappe, who has led Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League season, is placed third.

Phil Foden of Manchester City is placed second, after his international teammate Bellingham. Kylian Mbappe, who has led Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League season, is placed third.

Two Manchester City players, Erling Haaland and Rodri, round out the top five despite missing out on the Champions League.

This means that if the Ballon d'Or were awarded this month, Bellingham would have won and Foden would have finished second.

Note that the placement of these players in the Ballon d’Or power ranking is expected to change drastically from March because their placement will be determined by winning the UEFA Champions League, and their domestic league titles.
