Criticisms No Longer Shake Me - Skitmaker, Taaooma Speaks Up
Taaoomaa, a prominent skitmaker, also claimed that teamwork is essential for artistic success.
Maryam Apaokagi, the famous Nigerian skit maker and actress known as Taaooma, has revealed that she expected popularity to send criticism from trolls her way.
She claimed that as a popular figure, she has developed a thick skin to criticism.
According to The Nation, a viral photo of her being lifted by two colleagues sparked widespread outrage from members of the public.
In an interview with Punch, she said she wasn't surprised by the criticism.
She stated, "I've been preparing for situations like that since I learned I was popular. It is perfectly usual for people to talk. Many individuals simply vent their anger and frustrations on celebrities, which is natural. We are in the public glare, therefore things like these should not surprise us.
"That was an innocent photo I took with my coworkers, but a critic decided to make it seem like we had goals. Things like that no longer surprise me. They've said worse things in the past."
Taaoomaa also stated that teamwork is essential for artistic success.
She stated: "As a content developer, teamwork is crucial. My most recent collaboration was in the works for a long time, and I'm delighted it finally came to fruition.
"I believe that collaboration gets you far as a creator, and that is the goal: to keep moving forward. It helps to broaden one's audience beyond Africa to the rest of the world."
When asked about the impact of working with American performers such as Terry Crews and King Bachelor on her career, she replied: "I have achieved some of the goals I set for myself, since I am a very determined person when it comes to knocking items off my bucket list.
"This is something I've always wanted to do, and crossing it off my bucket list is a tremendous motivator for myself and my career. I guess we'll have to wait and see what else comes out of this. There will be more collaboration, but I can't tell what for now. I'll just keep working toward many more.
