Plumptre was unable to compete in Nigeria's 2024 Olympic Games qualification versus South Africa's Banyana Banyana due to injuries.
The former Leicester City star took to Instagram on Sunday night to announce her surgery and thank her club, national team, and fans for their constant support.
She added, "Thank you to everyone at @ittiladiesclub and Dr Pieter D'Hooge at @Aspetar for helping me during my first surgery.
"It has taken a long time to acquire answers, but I am grateful to be here today.
"I appreciate the patience and understanding of my @NGSuper_Falcons teammates and Nigerian supporters throughout my absence. I can honestly claim that I have fought this anguish as hard and as long as I possibly could. I can't wait to be back and healthy with you all.
"My club, @ittiladiesclub.
"I'm so grateful to be surrounded by such wonderful people at this club." Thank you, everyone, for your aid and support throughout this process. "I will be back soon."
