Liverpool told to swap Nunez for Osimhen, Boniface

Former West Ham United player Nigel Reo-Coker has advised Liverpool to replace their underperforming attacker with Victor Osimhen or Victor Boniface, according to TalkTalk Nigeria Sports Extra.

Despite scoring 11 goals and assisting eight times in 33 Premier League appearances this season, Reds striker Darwin Nunez has received criticism for his inability to convert big chances, having taken 105 shots thus far.

Statistics show that the Uruguayan attacker has not been the most clinical in front of goal this season, with a shot accuracy of only 42% and 26 huge chances lost. This has had a significant impact on Liverpool's quadruple chances.

The Merseyside club may now complete the season with only the Carabao Cup, after falling behind in the title race and being eliminated from the FA Cup and Europa title by Manchester United and Atalanta, respectively.

As a result, Reo-Coker believes the Merseyside club would be better off swapping the striker for Nigeria and Napoli talisman Osimhen or his compatriot Victor Boniface, who won the 2023/24 Bundesliga.

The Cli Azzurri striker has 14 goals in 22 Serie A games this season, while the Bayer Leverkusen star helped his team win the title with 11 goals and eight assists in 20 matches.

"The opportunities that he is getting are not half-chances," the former Aston Villa midfielder told TBR Football.

"They are creating opportunities for him, and for the striker and the money they paid for him, he must take use of them. He's not good enough. If I were Liverpool, I would say that you will lose (Mohamed) Salah, but you should be able to find a suitable substitute, but for me, it is that striker.

"Nunez, it's either you give him another chance, or you try to trade him with another club, where you could possibly exchange Nunez for one of the finest European strikers out there, whether it's Victor Boniface, Osimhen, or someone else. You try to make a swap arrangement to get oneof those strikers in and move Nunez on.”
