Breath of Life' leads 2024 AMVCA with 5 awards — see the full list of winners

The Prime Video original, with five wins, won the most awards this year, all of which were in major categories.

The African Magic Viewers Choice Awards was held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Eko Hotel, Lagos, bringing the best cinema creators in Africa under a single roof.

Though after the nominations were announced, Over the Bridge emerged as the strongest contender with 12 nominations, followed by Mami Wata, which snagged 11 nominations, the Prime Video original Breath of Life, with five wins, won the most awards this year, all of which were in major categories including, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Lead Actor, Best Director and Best Movie.

Though Chimezie Imo, who played lead alongside Wale Ojo in Breath of Life was not nominated, he still left the event victorious winning the Trailblazer Award, another major trophy.

Other winners included Over the Bridge and Jagun Jagun which both won two awards. The critically acclaimed black and white film by CJ Obasi, Mami Wata won only one award for Best Makeup. Afamefuna didn't win any awards.
