Zhang Yi, Chargé D'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, believes that China and Nigeria may use dance culture to strengthen diplomatic relations.

Zhang stated this on Saturday in Abuja during the "Energy China-Nigeria Dance Competition Semi-Final," which was organized by the Chinese Embassy in collaboration with China Energy International Group Nigeria Co., Ltd., among others.

Dance, he claims, has long been recognized as a universal language that bridges cultural barriers and expresses emotions and tales in a dramatic and expressive manner.

"We believe that dance reflects our emotions, love, and excitement for life.

"Dance culture is a powerful form of expression and communication that breaks down barriers and promotes international cooperation and understanding."

"Despite their language, religion, and ethnic divides, China and Nigeria have the ability to promote more cultural interaction and communication through dance.

"Therefore the need for the two countries to use dance as a way to deepen relations between them for mutual benefits," Zhang stated.
Mr Li Baisheng, Managing Director of China Energy, stated that dance allows people to understand China and Nigeria's rich cultural legacy and diversity while also providing a platform for cultural exchange and collaboration.

"We are devoted to encouraging mutually beneficial cooperation through cultural interaction, in addition to infrastructure development.

"By bringing together great dancers from both nations, we believe the competition will emphasize the beauty and craftsmanship of traditional dance traditions as well as shared values and traditions that unite the two countries,” Li said.

Also speaking, Mr Muhammad Sulaiman, President of the Society of Nigerian Artists and President of the China Alumni Association, stated that China and Nigeria have a long history of diplomatic relations based on mutual respect, cooperation, and friendship.

"Over the years, both countries have collaborated on a variety of initiatives ranging from trade to infrastructure development, education, and cultural exchanges.

"The China-Nigeria Dance Competition represents a continuation of this productive partnership and a significant step towards strengthening people-to-people ties," Sulaiman stated.

Mr Li Xuda, Director of China Cultural Center in Nigeria, expressed gratitude for the platform provided to artists to inspire them to promote dance.

Li also encouraged other Chinese companies to be actively involved in cultural exchange activities to build a stronger relationship between China and Nigeria.
