Omeruo anoints Lookman as 2024 CAF Player of the Year
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Nigerian defender Kenneth Omeruo believes his compatriot Ademola Lookman to be named CAF Player of the Year for 2024.
Lookman was the standout of Atalanta's 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday night.
The clever winger scored all three goals for Gian Piero Gasperini's team in the entertaining match.
The 26-year-old made history by becoming the first African to score three goals in a major European championship final.
Lookman also had a significant role in Nigeria's second-place performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
The former Everton and Leicester City player scored three goals in seven appearances in the competition.
Reacting to his heroic actions against Bayer Leverkusen, Omeruo wrote on his social media handle:”@CAF_Online your Arica Player of the Year..@ALookman_ top player.”
