Olawoyin replaces Tella in Super Eagles’ squad for World Cup qualifiers
Ibrahim Olawoyin of Turkish club Caykur Rizespor will replace Nathan Tella in Nigeria's roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
According to information on the Super Eagles X account, Tella has excused himself from the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers due to family obligations.
"WCQ Camp Update: Nathan Tella of Bayer Leverkusen has withdrawn from the next WCQ matches owing to family commitments. "Coach Finidi George has now called up Ibrahim Olawoyin of Caykur Rizespor in Turkey," the statement states.
Olawoyin has been in excellent form with Caykur Rizespor in the Turkish top flight this season.
This is the first time the former Rangers player has been called to the Super Eagles.
Kenneth Igboke, the Rangers' defender, was also called as replacement for injured Victor Osimhen this week.
