World Relays: Tears of joy for Team Nigeria as the men's and women's 4x100m relay squads punch Paris Olympic tickets

Nigeria's men and women's 4x100m relay squads have successfully punched their tickets to the Paris Olympic Games on impressive notes at the World Relays in the Bahamas.

Spurred by the disappointment of not securing their spots in Paris on Day 1, the teams maximized their repechage opportunity with near-perfect performances to get the job done and ensure Nigeria would leave with four out of five tickets from the Bahamas.

Kicking off an outstanding night for Team Nigeria were the women's 4x100m quartet of Tiana Eyakpobeyan, Favour Ofili, Olayinka Olajide, and Tima Godbless, who won their race in a Season's Best (SB) of 42.71s.

Ofili led the team to victory with an outstanding second-leg fastest split time of 10.02s, which was enough for Olajide to build on and Godbless held on to the finish line ahead of Switzerland.

Consequently, the men's quartet of Udodi Onwuzurike, Consider Ekanem, Alaba Akintola, and Karlington Anunagba (who replaced Seye Ogunlewe) did enough to also seal their tickets behind Ghana in 38.57s.

By doing this, Nigeria will leave the World Relays with four qualified relay teams for the Olympics (men and women's 4x100, men's 4x400m, and mixed 4x400m), and the only team with no qualification - the women's 4x400m Did Not Start due to unforeseen circumstances.
