Why Real Madrid will snub FIFA’s invitation to Club World Cup – Ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid's manager, has explained why the La Liga giants would decline to compete in FIFA's expanded Club World Cup next season.
The competition is scheduled for the United States at the end of the next season.
A total of 32 teams from around the world have been invited.
Ancelotti, who led Real Madrid to a double in La Liga and the Champions League this season, thinks FIFA has offered about €20 million for their participation.
According to the Italian, Real will not be the only team to reject FIFA's offer.
"FIFA forgets that the teams will not be competing in the new Club World Cup.
"A single Real Madrid match is worth €20 million, and FIFA wants to give us that much for the entire tournament.
"We will decline the invitation,” Ancelotti told Il Giornale.
