‘I hid my illness for 17 years before making it public’ – Celine Dion

Celine Dion, a Canadian singer, has revealed that she suppressed her struggle with Stiff Person Syndrome for 17 years before making it public.

In an interview with Hoda Kotb on the Today Show this week, Dion admitted that she was covertly fighting the illness while managing her late husband Rene Angelil's cancer struggle and raising their children.

The 56-year-old singer, who first revealed her diagnosis in 2022, admitted that she had symptoms since 2008.

"We had no idea what was happening with me. I didn't take the time. "I should have stopped and taken the time to figure it out," she explained.

"As if that wasn't enough, my spouse is also fighting for his life.

"I had to raise my children, hide, and try to be a hero all while feeling my body leave me," she continued. "I was holding on to my own dreams."

The 'Think Twice' singer added that she eventually told up about her sickness since hiding it from "the people who got her to where she was" was a great "burden".

Celine Dion has revealed that her Stiff Person Syndrome makes her feel like she is "being strangled".

She added that she often suffers from cramps and even had broken some ribs.
