SPORTEPL: He’s an important player – Mbappe identifies one best centre-back in Premier League

Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has praised Arsenal's William Saliba as one of the Premier League's best centre backs.


Mbappe feels Saliba has the potential to start for France at Euro 2024, and he has become a key player for Arsenal.

Saliba's outstanding exploits with the Gunners over two straight seasons earned him a position in France's Euro team.

Despite his achievements, he is currently below Bayern Munich's Dayot Upamecano and Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate in Didier Deschamps' selection hierarchy.

"I have known him since he was very, very young," Mbappe told Ouest-France.

"We attended the same primary school in Bondy. We played football together during our breaks, even though we were not in the same year, but he begged to join us.

"This season, he has become a very important player for Arsenal and is among the best centre-backs in the Premier League."
