Euro 2024: ‘He helped us’ – Dalot defends Ronaldo after Portugal defeated Czech Republic

Portugal defender Diogo Dalot has backed teammate Cristiano Ronaldo following their Euro 2024 victory against Czech Republic on Tuesday.

Despite failing to score against the Czech Republic, Dalot believes Ronaldo helped Portugal both on and off the field.

According to him, the 39-year-old delivered a 'energetic' performance throughout the encounter.

He spoke as speculation grew about whether the veteran attacker would assist or hinder his national team's chances at Euro 2024.

"Cristiano Ronaldo was very focused, very physically fit, and always ready to score goals," Dalot told reporters following the match.

"I know people will always expect him to score goals. He scores occasionally, but also frequently! Today he came extremely near.

"Obviously, you can see from the game he played how much he ran today. He helped us both with and without the ball, and he was always active and energetic, which is exactly the Cristiano we want."

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Francisco Conceicao's late goal helped Portugal defeat Czech Republic 3-1.
