Euro 2024: Man Utd legend criticizes Southgate after England’s latest game

Roy Keane, a Manchester United legend, has blasted England manager Gareth Southgate following the Three Lions' Euro 2024 draw against Denmark on Thursday.

Keane argued that Southgate took a big risk by starting Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield against Denmark.

England and Denmark drew 1-1 after full time.

"Being taken off in two games is not a good sign. "I thought it was always a huge gamble to play a player who doesn't play that position for his club on a weekly basis," Keane stated, according to Football 365.

"I know some people say he drifts in there for Liverpool, but drifting into a position, remaining there, and beginning are two very different things. I've played midfield; it's a physically demanding position to get your distances, and he's fallen short in both games."

He went on to say, "It's not entirely his fault; you'd have to blame Gareth. It's a great risk to put a fullback into the middle of the park. And this was against two teams you would have thought England would be comfortable and have lots of possession.”
