Controversial Uche Maduagwu, a Nollywood actor, has criticized Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for "abandoning" his duties to attend his nephew, singer Davido's wedding in Lagos today.

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, luminaries that attended Davido and Chioma's opulent wedding on Tuesday included Governor Adeleke, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Akwa Ibom State governor Udom Emmanuel.

Maduagwu reacted in a video message posted to his Instagram account, specifically criticizing Governor Adeleke for attending a wedding on a workday.

He stated, "On a Tuesday morning, the Osun State Governor is leaving his state to attend a wedding [in Lagos]. We are not prepared in this country. To be honest, our country does not take itself seriously.

"Can you envision the MD of Access Bank or Zenith Bank leaving the workplace on a Tuesday morning to attend a wedding? I've never done this before in my life. On a Tuesday morning, the Chief Executive Officer of Osun, one of the poorest states in the South West, leaves the office to attend a wedding. We are not prepared in this country.
"This is a disgrace." A disregard for the people of Osun State. Would you be delighted if a permanent secretary in your state left his office to attend a wedding on a workday? Even as a leader, you cannot lead by example. You are attending a wedding in Lagos on a Tuesday afternoon. Will you ever see the Governor of New York or the Governor of Texas on a Tuesday morning attending a wedding?
