EPL: Maresca changed my position – Cole Palmer speaks on new Chelsea manager

Cole Palmer, a Chelsea midfielder, has spoken out about his prior working relationship with Enzo Maresca at Manchester City.

Maresca has been named as Mauricio Pochettino's successor at Stamford Bridge.

Despite coming from Leicester City, Maresca previously worked as Pep Guardiola's assistant at City.

Palmer progressed through the Etihad academy before joining Chelsea for £40 million last summer.

"I had Enzo at City Under-21s for a season and then he went to Parma and then when I went up with Pep [to the seniors], he came back as Pep's assistant," Palmer told the United Kingdom's Telegraph.

"He's a very good coach. I believe he understands the tactical situation. He is an excellent coach who will help a lot of players.

"Enzo was the one who moved me to right-wing. So I started playing 10 in the 18s, and when I got to the 23s, Enzo played me on the right. "That was my first full season on the right."
