Man City drag EPL to court ahead of 115-charge hearing

According to The Times, Manchester City has initiated legal action against the Premier League.

City are attempting to end the Premier League's Associated Party Transaction (ATP) restrictions.

The ATP rules primarily target commercial and sponsorship agreements with companies owned or affiliated with the same club's owners.
They state that such transactions must be independently analyzed to be of fair market worth.

But City believes the rules are "unlawful," and in a 165-page court brief, the champs claim they are the victims of "discrimination."

The rule was implemented in December 2021, after Newcastle was acquired by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.

The legal disagreement will be resolved during a two-week arbitration session commencing Monday, June 10.
