EPL: Luke Shaw reveals Man Utd game he ‘regrets’ playing
Luke Shaw, a Manchester United defender, has said he should not have participated in their Premier League match against Luton Town in February.
Shaw suffered a hamstring injury during the game and is racing against time to be ready for England's opening Euro 2024 match against Serbia on June 16.
Gareth Southgate, the manager of the Three Lions, admitted earlier this week that selecting the left-back for his squad was a "gamble".
The 28-year-old, who has been at Old Trafford for a decade, has now stated that he was disappointed when fans questioned his loyalty to the club.
"If the manager wants me to play, I will never say 'no.' But I shouldn't have played [at Luton]," Shaw explained.
"It's pretty much everyone's fault. It was partly my fault, and partly the responsibility of the [United] medical professionals.
"I returned too hastily, resulting in another hamstring injury. I did my best to be fit for United."
