‘I’m retiring from music’ – Kanye West

American rapper Kanye West has announced his retirement from professional music.

He claimed he isn't sure what to do next.

The 'Ye' singer revealed this in a recent interview with Rich The Kid.

Rich The Kid shared a screenshot of their discussion on his Instagram story on Tuesday.

In the screenshot, YE stated, "I am retiring from professional music." "I'm not sure what else to do."

In an attempt to encourage him to abandon his ambitions, Rich The Kid wrote, "Retire? Why? How? The people require you. The music you, TY [Dollar $ign], and I created had the most cultural impact as of 2024.

"Drop Ye about my and V2, and we will do it all over again. Big bro, the kids need you. Fashion may require some downtime, but retiring is not an option." [Sic].

He did not say whether West heeded his counsel or not.

Kanye West is one of hip-hop's most prominent figures, noted for his diverse musical styles.

He began his musical career as a producer in Chicago after dropping out of college.

He rose to notoriety after co-producing Jay-Z's 2001 album 'The Blueprint' and later became an in-house producer for Roc-A-Fella Records.
In 2004, West released his debut album, 'The College Dropout,' which received critical praise and produced the Billboard Hot 100 number one hit 'Slow Jamz.'

He went on to become the joint most-awarded hip-hop artist in Grammy history, alongside Jay-Z, with 24 golden gramophones.
