‘My parents made me believe in love but I grew up to see different world’ – Young Jonn

Young John, an Afrobeats artist, has spoken openly about his childhood and coming to terms with a different reality in the outside world.

In a recent interview with Saige Jones, John disclosed that he was up in a Christian household, with both of his parents being pastors.

The producer-turned-singer also said that he began his musical career as a drummer at church.

Young John remarked that as a child, he believed in love based on what he saw between his parents, but he was later exposed to a different reality in the outer world.

He also discussed losing his mother to cancer and how he is coping with the loss.

"I grew up in a religious household. Both my mother and father were pastors. My mother had a school. She was a psychologist. So I grew up in a religious environment. "I began my musical career as a church drummer and keyboardist," he explained.

"When I was really little, I believed in love so much because of what I observed between my parents, before I grew up and realized the world is really different from that.

"My family was quite close until everyone became preoccupied with life. Life happened. My mother is late now. We lost her to cancer. It occurred while ago. I’m over it now.”
