Only 5 Nigerians make list of greatest African athletes of 21st century
ESPN's list of the 25 greatest African athletes of the twenty-first century included only five Nigerians.
ESPN just issued a list of African athletes who have made important achievements across multiple sports.
The athletes that were honored were Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons icon Perpetua Nkwocha, and Nigerian-Kiwi fighter Israel Adesanya.
The other two Nigerians on the list are Kamaru Usman, who has already established himself as one of the most notable fighters in the UFC lightweight category, and Osi Umenyiora, a New York Giants star who achieved great success in the NFL.
However, three other Nigerian sports legends, Austin Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, and John Obi Mikel, were unexpectedly excluded, raising questions.
