On Wednesday, Finidi George was introduced as the head coach of Rivers United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The unveiling ceremony took place at the Rivers United secretariat in Port Harcourt.

The former Ajax winger returned to the dugout a few weeks after resigning as Super Eagles head coach.

Rivers United fired long-time strategist Stanley Eguma at the close of last season owing to poor results.

Last season, the Port Harcourt club ended a disappointing seventh in the NPFL.

Finidi previously worked with the NPFL's nine-time champions, Enyimba.

He orchestrated Enyimba's title victory in the 2022/23 season.
