"Sophia Momodu files a lengthy affidavit against Davido for joint custody of their daughter, Imade."
Sophia Momodu, Afrobeats artist Davido's first baby mom, has submitted her defense in a lawsuit brought by the Nigerian musician seeking custody of their daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke.
The 102-paragraph counter-affidavit was submitted by her legal team, Anthony Idigbe SAN of Punuka Attorney and Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun.
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Davido just filed a lawsuit demanding custody of his daughter.
The complaint, LD/1587PMC/2024, has Mr David Adedeji Adeleke as the applicant, with Ms Sophia Momodu identified as the sole respondent, marking the start of their court struggle over the child's custody.
Davido's legal case seeks a court judgment providing him joint custody and unlimited access to his daughter, Imade.
According to the singer, he has constantly fulfilled his financial commitments for their child's well-being; nonetheless, Sophia has been making excessive requests that appear to be intended to irritate and frustrate him.
By requesting joint custody and unrestricted access, Davido hoped to maintain an active role in his daughter's life.
Momodu, through her legal lawyers, denied the claims, claiming that Davido has refused to see their daughter by his "own choice" since July 2022.
Momodu further stated that she has "solely shoulderered" responsibility for their daughter for the past two years, while Davido uses Imade's photos on social media to "falsely portray himself as a supportive and active father."
The next hearing is scheduled for Friday, July 5.
