Over the last five years, we’ve seen Nollywood churn out some fresh faces, and we couldn’t be more glad! Finally, the industry is expanding beyond familiar faces and bringing young talents to the forefront.

Here, we spotlight six rising stars whose performances are redefining the artistry in Nollywood.

1. Temi Fosudo

Temi Fosudo is one of the rising stars in Nollywood. He has a solid theatre background from the University of Ibadan. Though the son of renowned actor and academic Sola Fosudo, Temi has carved out his own niche in the industry with his versatile acting skills and dedication to his craft.

He has appeared in various films and television series, including The Griot, In Ibadan, Alli Eid Dinner, A Green Fever, One Too Many, and most recently, House of Ga’a, earning praise for his ability to bring depth and authenticity to his characters.

2. Uzoamaka Onuoha

Uzoamaka Onuoha is a dynamic new talent in Nollywood.

A theatre and film studies graduate, Uzoamaka’s charisma on screen would leave you mesmerised. You’d recognise her in various films, including Inside Life, Country Love, Omugwo, and most popularly, Diiche, where she plays the lead.

Her role in Diiche, especially, has garnered critical acclaim and award nominations. She continues to make waves in the Nigerian film industry, gradually establishing herself as a compelling and influential figure in entertainment.

3. Tomi Ojo

This eccentric actress sure knows how to captivate hearts on screen, and it’s not just about her beauty. Her acting shines through in any role, whether in Far From Home, Uno, Adire, Leaked, etc.

Tomi’s star is undoubtedly on the rise, and her future in Nollywood looks exceptionally bright.

4. Mike Afolarin

This is a name we’re all getting used to by now. After his breakout role in Far From Home, Mike Afolarin has reason to become one of the most easily recognisable faces in Nollywood amongst the others in his generation. His most recent role in House of Ga’a has further shot him into the limelight, and we are excited for what is next for this brilliant actor!

5. Uzoamaka Aniunoh

From MTV Shuga to Mami Wata, Domitilla, Love Language, and most recently, With Difficulty Comes Ease, this stunning actress has quite the portfolio already! Her acting prowess is as undeniable as the dedication and passion she brings to every role she takes, and we look forward to seeing much more of her!

6. Chimezie Imo

It almost feels weird putting Chimezie on this list because, at this point, we can barely call him a new face. However, he still belongs to this generation of actors, so yes, he is on our list!

Chimezie’s breakout role in the critically acclaimed film Kasala showcased his ability to bring a unique authenticity to his characters. With a knack for portraying complex emotions, as seen in other movies like One Too Many, Nimbe, Choke, Breath of Life, etc., he quickly gained recognition in the industry. Chimezie is definitely one to watch out for among this crop!
