Asake bigger than Olamide – Big Vic

Big Vic, a popular media personality, has said that singer Asake has surpassed ace rapper and YBNL Nation CEO Olamide in terms of popularity.

In a recent episode of the 'Ctdamongblacks' podcast, he stated:

"Asake is currently bigger than Olamide. I'm not talking about a lifetime achievement; I'm talking about the present. At this time, he [Asake] is more successful in terms of collaboration, connections, and sold-out events."

"Olamide could have decided not to invest so much in him but he knew that if Asake becomes big, he would benefit from it."

He claims that Southeast singers are not assisting their relatives to achieve success in the music industry like their Southwest counterparts because they are terrified of being surpassed.

He asked Igbo artists to follow in the footsteps of their Yoruba colleagues and invest more in emerging talent from their region.

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Asake earlier said that he pleaded Olamide for two years before agreeing to sign him to his musical label.
Asake signed with YBNL Nation in February 2022. That same month, he released his debut extended play, 'Ololade,' with his breakout single "Omo Ope" with Olamide and the single “Sungba.”
