The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is trying to hire a local coach on an interim basis for the Super Eagles.

According to OgaNla Media, the coach will lead the national squad in the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers in September.

Since Finidi George stepped down, the Eagles have been without a substantive coach.

Last week, Austin Eguaveon, the NFF Technical Director, stated that a new leader would be announced this week.

Over the weekend, there were rumors that Janne Andersson had landed the post.

However, it appears like a permanent coach agreement will not be finalized before Nigeria hosts Benin on September 7 and travels to Rwanda three days later.
