The hip-hop community lost. Rapper Illbliss contributes to Afrobeats alongside Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

Veteran rapper Tobechukwu Ejiofor, alias Illbliss, has lamented the passing of music icons Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, who began their careers as rappers to afrobeats.

In an interview with Radio Now 95.3 FM, Illbliss recalled how rap music was thriving in Nigeria before rappers such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and others turned to singing.

He claimed they were able to gain global success after switching to singing.

He confessed that hip-hop music is not viable in Nigeria, stating that just a few rappers, including himself, have found commercial success.

Illbliss stated, "We (the Hip-Hop community) lost a number of our soldiers, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido. Three of them are rappers. I guess they discovered the afrobeats vibe and became global superstars.

"Hip-hop is a tough sell in Nigeria." Not everyone has been as fortunate as myself, Vector, M.I., Reminisce, Olamide, and Phyno. The list isn't very long.
