AFCON 2025 qualifiers: Ghana to play future matches in Nigeria following CAF suspension.

According to Soccernet, Ghana's national team, the Black Stars, could play their remaining home games in Nigeria for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

This follows the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to withdraw consent for the use of Kumasi's Baba Yara Stadium.

CAF stated that the withdrawal was due to a variety of structural and maintenance difficulties.

During a recent inspection, the football governing body expressed dissatisfaction with the playing field's state, noting uneven surfaces, poor drainage, and insufficient grass cover.

These challenges, together with similar issues at other Ghanaian stadiums such as Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadium, have left Ghana without an approved venue for their forthcoming AFCON qualifiers.

CAF has now asked Ghana to locate an alternative stadium for their AFCON qualifiers on Matchdays 3 and 4, which will take place in October.

In light of this, Myjoyonline reports that Nigeria's Godswill Akpabio International Stadium has emerged as a frontrunner.

The stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom's capital, appears to be the most convenient alternative for the Black Stars.

Other venues under consideration are the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny and Stade de la Paix in Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon's Japoma Stadium in Douala, and Morocco's Berkane Municipal Stadium.

Ghana will make its final choice to CAF in the coming days.
