Frank Onyeka, a Nigerian midfielder, assisted in Augsburg's 3-1 win over St. Pauli in his Bundesliga debut.

On transfer deadline day, Onyeka signed a season-long loan from Brentford to the Bundesliga team.

The 26-year-old, who practiced with his colleagues for the first time on Friday, was unexpectedly named to the starting lineup by manager Jess Thorup.


The defensive midfielder set up Philip Tietz for Augsburg's second goal in the 66th minute.

Onyeka played 83 minutes.

Arne Maier replaced the defensive midfielder.

The victory was Augsburg's first in the Bundesliga this season.
